The Central Florida Pledge is more than just a statement—it’s a community-driven call to action that unites people across Central Florida to create a safe and welcoming environment for all. We believe in the power of treating others with kindness and respect, especially those with whom we may disagree. Our mission is to build a culture where every individual feels valued, respected, and protected, regardless of their faith, race, gender, ethnicity, culture, beliefs, or identity.

What Is the Pledge?

The Central Florida Pledge asks residents to commit to treating all people with empathy and understanding. By taking the Pledge, you become part of a first-of-its-kind team of “community first responders” — people stand ready to act when hate or discrimination threatens our neighbors. It’s a shared promise to stand up against antisemitism, Islamophobia, and all forms of hate and discrimination in our region. Together, we are building a community where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected.

How Did the Pledge Begin?

The Pledge was born out of a moment of crisis. After the October 7 terrorist attacks, local leaders from diverse backgrounds—spanning education, religion, government, interfaith groups, and the corporate sector—came together to address the rising levels of targeted hate directed towards Jewish, Muslim, and Palestinian communities as a result of the hostilities in the Middle East. These leaders took a stand to say, “Enough is enough,” and collectively drafted and signed The Pledge to eliminate all forms of harassment, hate speech, and persecution in our community.

By Signing the Pledge, You Commit to:

• Treating every person with kindness, dignity, and respect, regardless of their faith, race, gender, ethnicity, culture, beliefs, or identity.

• Standing up against hate speech, discrimination, and harassment in any form.

• Supporting those who are targets of hate, ensuring that they do not face their challenges alone.

• Promoting understanding and dialogue, even with those with whom we may disagree.

• Working to create a safer, more inclusive Central Florida where everyone feels valued and welcomed.
